Hi,
A friend of mine posted this today:
"As some of you know, every fall, my church hosts a Samhain gathering called Hekate's Sickle. It is a three-day event including a journey between the worlds and a supper with the beloved dead. Every year, we have an altar for the dead in our dining hall. This year, like many others, I have volunteered to tend that altar.
On the altar, there is a book of names. This book is later burned to send the love off into the aether to those who have gone before. It is standard to include a list of public figures (Marcel Marceau, Robert Jordan, etc) and also a list of all American service-people killed on duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This year, I am putting the call out to my friends outside of the local area: If you have a name of someone you want remembered and honored at our festival this year, please leave it here and I will make certain it is included in the book. If you wish to include a message to the person or a description (grandmother, carpenter, etc) you are welcome to do so as well."
I asked him to include "Sara Hunt - Daughter, sister and friend."
Warmly,
Colleen
