“Evers has a broader and deeper knowledge of educational
issues, and would be able to immediately work with underperforming
schools. While a county ed board member can't force local school
districts to do anything, the position would give Evers a platform
to influence and guide local districts.
“It will take good ideas and tact to get local districts
to accept those ideas. The community-wide debate over math instruction
that Evers sparked in the 1990s showed us that he was not afraid
to ask challenging questions, but do so in a respectful manner
that brought about constructive changes.”
“. . . Evers is exceptionally well qualified for this job
and we strongly advise voters to elect him on Nov. 2.”
